Bad news, the Backstreet Boys appearance on The View has been cancelled.

Now on to the good news! "I Want It That Way" has hit #1 on the charts in Holland :)

May 7, 1999

I know the news article is kinda old, but I just spotted it today. In the March 14 edition of the Orlando Sentinel they had a little clip about Elton John and the BSB. Well, Elton John dedicated his upcoming song "Written In The Stars" from the soundtrack of an upcoming Disney film called Aida to two of his fans in the audience-Kevin Richardson and Howie Dorough, whom he commended for their work ethic and the way they treat their fans. (Way to go BSB!!!!!)

BIG NEWS!! The NY radio station Z100 is broadcasting a live show of the BSB nationally at 9:00 PM. The location is TOP-SECRET. There will be a live performance by the BSB and a Q&A session. If you live in NY, try to win the passes that they are giving out for free :)

There's a BSB commercial on Nickelodeon announcing a TV special on the BSB. It'll be on Sat. May 15 at 8:30 pm EST/PST. The commercials should be running all week. And check your local listings for specific times.

"I Want It That Way" debuted at #1 in Canada and are at #1 in the UK, both are firsts for the Boys. In Brazil, Spain, Germany and Lebanon, they are also #1. In Australia they debuted at #6. :)

Guess what ppl!!!!!! Only 4 more days till Millennium!!! I can't wait!!!!

The BSB will be having an online conference through their own site www.backstreetboys.com on Mon. May 17, at 1:00pm (ET)!!! Caitlin (www.backstreet.net)is the lucky contest winner who will be hosting it. The conference is in celebration of the re-launching of the official site and the official online Backstreet Boys store, www.backstreetboysdirect.com

Well, I hope you all got the chance to hear our Boys last night on the radio. They were awesome. The DJ played 5 of their songs, and they sang two a cappella. The first song played was "Larger Than Life," the second was "As Long As You Love Me", the third was "Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely," then they played "I Want It That Way." The last song the DJ played was "Perfect Fan." Kevin and Brian had played paper, rock, scissors to see whether they'd play "Perfect Fan" or "Back To Your Heart." Well, Brian won. The songs that they sang a cappella were "I Want It That Way" and a medley of "All I Have To Give" and "I'll Never Break Your Heart." I don't know what happened, but I think Howie was singing too high for "I Want It That Way," he sounded like a girl. But that's quite alright, cuz I still love him. When they sang the medley, they did a WONDERFUL job. I'm soo proud. None of my friends could get me to shut up about the radio show today! I tried calling in the whole hour that they were on, but I couldn't get through :( The only thing I was doing that hour was pressing Talk..Redial..Talk..Talk.. Redial...on and on and on. All I wanted to do was tell Kevin that "Back To Your Heart" is an amazing song. Now, as for the TOP-SECRET place, it was Electric Ladies Studio (I might have gotten the name wrong, cuz I couldn't really hear the DJ). If you have any more questions about it e-mail me at bsbtrain@hotmail.com

"The countdown begins..." ONLY 1 MORE DAY TILL THE MILLENNIUM!!! YIPPEEEEE.

The BSB's internet conference wuz nifty, except for the constant glitches. But that' not their fault. I hope you guys saw it too. I actually skipped out on school to see it.

May 18, 1999

I hope all you BSB fans have been keeping up with all of their appearances over the weekend. On Sunday, the Boys broke their OWN record (if you can remember back to when they had BSB TV the 1st time, that was the day Carson had seen the most ppl out there then ever before) for most fans to show up. Carson said that the last time he had seen such a crowd was New Years. Well, today they broke the record AGAIN. The police even had to ask them not to look out the window to wave because they didn't want anyone to get hurt.

The Backstreet Boys and their record company will release "The Perfect Fan" as one of their future singles. But they don't know when.

In the UK charts, "I Want It That Way" is number 1!! Of course, the single kicked Britney's single "...Baby, one more time" off the number one spot. I must say, I enjoy Backstreet News, but this kind just makes it all so much more worth while :)

On May 18, the BSB were at Z100 radio "taking over" the Morning Show, and they played the "Do My Boobs One More Time," a parody of "Hit Me One More Time" The Backstreet Boys "kind of" got their revenge but they said they don't mean any harm. However, they had a blast laughing!!

May 28th MTV is doing a special called Fight For Your Rights: take a stand against violence. The Backstreet Boys have participated in this and can be heard on the FREE CD offered through MTV.com at Fight For Your Rights. Just register and receive the CD in 4-6 weeks. The guys have also donated a ton of stuff to MTV's auction, Cool Crap. Just visit CoolCrap. Cool Crap will be aired this Saturday at 2:00 PM/EST.

If you missed the UBL online chat, you can view it here at Backstreet Boys Chat.

If you are looking for some rare BSB merchandise, don't forget to check out ebay.com for some great buys. They have everything a Backstreet fan could want; from individual wall clocks, sticker albums, bubble gum and tattoos! These are just a few of the things ebay has to offer.

  • Within 4 days, the Backstreet Boys' new album, Millennium, has gone 6X PLATINUM in Canada!!! That's SOOOO damn cool. I'm VERY proud of our boys! :)

    May 23, 1999

Nick didn't win for Teen People's 21 Hottest Stars Under 21. He was (unfortunately) beat out by Justin Timberlake of 'N Sync. It was announced at the end of the ABC special.

The Boys did a press conference in Toronto on Friday at the Sutton Place hotel. There was a small crowd of 300 or so screaming fans waiting outside. They gave Canada credit for helping launch their success in the states. Canada is the biggest market place for the boys in the world. Howie stated, "Canda had a lot to do with America catching on. It started to leak down and America couldn't hold it back no longer." If you would like to view pictures from that: CLICK HERE.

In case you didn't see the World Music Awards, you missed out on the Boys winning 4 (yes, four) awards. They didn't do a performance but did give thanks. They won for World's Best Selling Pop Group, World's Best Selling R&B Group, World's Best Selling Dance Group, and World's Best Selling American Group.

Some of you may not know, but Sears is sponsoring the Backstreet Boys the new MILLENNIUM world tour (along with MTV). They have shot a video commercial for Sears, the newly filmed commercial shows the Boys running from a crowd of screaming fans.

AJ got a new tattoo, with his lucky number...69. It seems that the #6 is on one side of his bellybutton and #9 on the other side.

According to the New York Daily News, the Backstreet Boys are getting a little tired of constantly facing cameras. The paper reports that at a BSB show in New York City last Tuesday, security guards patted down everyone -- including the Boys' very youngest fans -- for un-allowed cameras.

The Millennium album photos have an "elemental" feel to them. Water for Nick, Fire for Howie, Sun for AJ, Air for Brian and Steel for Kevin.

Brian revealed a secret about his longtime girlfriend's new movie project "Olive Juice." He may be making a cameo appearance.

In case you wanna know what all those numbers mean in Nick's thank you on the new album. It's a special code, use the numbers and letters on your phone... He says "5483 5433 86 843 2855378 367 843 388873 47 722723" when translated it means "Live life to the fullest for the future is sacred."

The Backstreet Boys official site has been completely revamped. It looks wonderful now.

There are 2 versions to the new album, Millennium... Asia has a different one from the rest of the world. They have 2 extra tracks, "I'll Be There For You," and "You Wrote The Book On Love". SIDENOTE: Now why can't they just put the same songs on ALL albums? Now I gotta find some place that has the Asian version so I can keep saying that I have ALL of their songs. I'm tellin' ya, it's an EXPENSIVE reputation to live up to ;)

    May 24, 1999

Well, it seems that my "reliable" source, was wrong on the meaning of those numbers that Nick wrote. They mean "Live life to the fullest for the future is scarce." NOT "Live life to the fullest for the future is sacred." Sorry bout that.

    May 26, 1999

THEY DID IT!! Our Boys did it. They beat Garth Brooke's record for most CD's sold in one week! I'm SOO proud of 'ma' Boys. They sold 1.13 million copies of Millennium. They go down in history for that!

I've known this peace of information for a little while now. I just kept forgetting to post it on my site. Anywayz, I'm sure most of you have heard about a BSB Christmas album in the works. Thanx to the REALLY nice lady at Sam Goody, I know when it will be rleased. So far it's scheduled to be on shelves Oct. 19. I already have my copy on reserve. :)

The BSB will also be on a DVD that comes out Sept. 17. (Another tidbit the lady at Sam Goody told me, and of course, I have it on reserve too) In case you're not sure what a DVD is, it's the same size as a CD but plays movies. And obviously you'll need a DVD player to see it. I'm just so lucky my dad keeps up with all that nifty technology, cuz I have one. :)

You can win BSB Prizes at UBL. com. Just click on the link, choose the BSB contest and fill in the info.
